| 1999 PRECIOUS METAL PREDICTION CONTEST WINNERS ARE ANNOUNCED Coin Connoisseur announced the winners of the 1999 Year End Precious Metal Prediction Contest today. Contestants were asked to send in their predictions for the closing spot prices of Gold, Silver and Platinum on the last trading day of 1999. 1999 Silver closed at 5.413. Three predictions came in closest. The
prize of 100 1 oz. Silver Eagles will be split between those three winners. Gold closed at 288.50 with one winner. ö K. Worden of Morgan, UT whose prediction was the closest at 288.80 will receive a beautiful 1 oz. Gold Eagle. Platinum came in at 430.20 with one winner - J. Moore of Orlando, FL came in 431.00 and will receive a 1 oz. Platinum Eagle. Congratulations to all our winners! The three best rare coin sites, collector sites, and precious metal sites each received a plaque honoring its contributions to rare coin and bullion collectors and investors who use the Internet to increase their knowledge and enjoyment. Over a thousand rare coin and bullion enthusiasts from eight countries cast votes by e-mail, mail, and fax to determine the winners. Barry Stuppler, publisher and editor-in-chief of Coin Connoisseur, announced the top vote getters in these three categories. The best collector Web sites were Numismatists
Online (www.Numismatists.com), Collectors Universe.com, and Classical
Numismatic Group (historicalcoins.com). The best rare coin Web sites were eBay.com,
Teletrade.com, and NumisMedia.com. As the best precious metal sites, the
voters selected World Gold Council (www.gold.org), Kitco.com, and The
Goldsheet Mining Directory (need the URL). Stuppler said that Coin Connoisseur, the international magazine for investors and collectors, sponsored the vote because the Internet is "revolutionizing the rare coin and bullion marketplaces by providing unprecedented access to information." He added that Coin Connoisseur wants to encourage the trend "of casual surfers in the fascinating world of rare coins and precious metals to become serious collectors and investors."
